I have recently become very interested in economics and particularly how the lack of understanding of it drives so many poor political and personal finance decisions. My goal for the next several months, or years if necessary, is to learn as much as possible to equip myself to make better economic decisions.
The world’s poorest people are far more independent than we.
This is a quotation from an article by Walter E. Williams entitled “Common Sense Economics”. It’s something to think about when you hear so much on becoming totally independent as a country economically. There are also many other good points made by Williams.
…’Nearly eight in 10 favor a federal requirement that all employers offer insurance to their full-time workers.’ Why?! Do our employers pay for our food, clothing, or shelter? If they did, why would that be good? … Employer-paid health insurance isn’t free. It just means we get insurance instead of higher salaries.
John Stossel wrote that in his article, “Getting Medical Insurance From Your Boss Is a Bad Idea“. Maybe “benefits” at work are not always a good thing.
